Cathedral Rock, Sedona

I’m Lara Murphy, MA, LMFT. With over 20 years of experience supporting individuals aged 16 and older, I bring dedication, compassion, and expertise to my work as a therapist.

Licensed in both Nevada and California, I am an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Certified Therapist specializing in treating PTSD and complex PTSD. Using EMDR, an evidence-based approach, I help individuals process trauma, reduce emotional distress, and reclaim their lives. Whether you are healing from a single traumatic event or navigating the lasting effects of prolonged abuse, I am here to guide you toward a future filled with resilience and hope.

Beyond trauma-focused care, I also specialize in working with teens and parents, helping families strengthen their relationships and overcome challenges. As a mom of neurodiverse teens, I have a unique experience working with individuals who are ADHD and those with Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 1 and Level 2, as well as with parents of teens navigating similar journeys. I understand the importance of connection and adaptability, which is why I offer innovative approaches to therapy—including "walk and talk" sessions that combine the benefits of movement with meaningful conversation.

As an avid fitness enthusiast and former group fitness instructor, I know the transformative power of physical and emotional well-being. I believe in using a holistic approach to therapy, incorporating mind and body health to help clients achieve their goals. Humor is one of my favorite tools in treatment; I believe laughter truly is the best medicine and often use it to create a warm, approachable, and engaging environment for my clients.

In addition to therapy, I am available to provide consultation services and am an approved secondary supervisor in the state of Nevada. No matter where you are on your journey, I am here to walk alongside you, offering support, encouragement, and tools for lasting change. Let’s work together to help you heal, grow, and thrive.
